Life as an author is very much different to life as a simple, ordinary human being. I'm not saying it is better, just that it is different.
You take inspiration from everything. Does a sunbeam reflected on your car's hood has a connection to the new upcoming novel? Yes, it does. Can a smile from a grocery owner affect your main hero's final scene? Yes, it can.
Life becomes a harvesting ground for myriad small moments that are translated to inspiration.
It is not a better life, just a different life.
The world becomes a different place.
And you MUST constantly take notes. This is an irresistible internal drive.
Very annoying, actually.
